Wesco Farms LM Rowdys Anticipation
"Annie"
2005 AMHA AMHR PQ tested
NN (Negative) for the known ACAN Dwarf genes
32.75" Red Mare
Sire: Grosshills Littlemans Anticipation x Dam: NFC Rowdys Lil Chiclet
Annie is a double bred (grand and great-grand daughter) of Rowdy. It's one of our favorite lines that we've found is just solid in any breeding program. Both of Annie's parents, Little and Chiclet, contributed powerhouse genes to our breeding program over the years. Her dam, Chiclet, (RIP) was a wonderful producer of great moving, gorgeous foals with many having won at the National and World level (Samis No Slack Banana Jack, Samis Rong Again and Samis Quiz Kid). Chiclet earned a place in Outstanding Miniature Horse Mares: Past and Presentt written by Pat Elder for her contribution to the Miniature Horse World.
We've retained a few siblings of Annie's as part of our breeding program - her full sister, (Wesco Farms Rowdys Gemini), a half sister from her sire, Wesco Farms LM Buena Baybee Blues, and her half brother, Ringo (Wesco Farms Buckerowdyroo) another phenomonal moving Chiclet son.
Annie was tested for the ACAN Dwarf genes in July 2020. She is N/N for all four known types (D1, D2, D3 & D4).
That means she cannot pass dwarf genetics and her foals have inherited her NN from her.
Annie's foals (left to right) Wesco Farms TC Rustic Renegade "Rusty" 2017, Wesco Farms TC Defiantly Different "Cricket" 2011 (both by WCR Top Cop) and Wesco Farms WO Mister Four Twenty "Axel". 2020. Sired by First Knights Wizard of Oz.
2016 son, Wesco Farms Ozs Luck of the Draw (Duck) and 2014 son, Wesco Farms Ozs Black Market Trader (Leo) both sired by Fallen Ash Scouts Oscar,
A few photos of Annie herself! She's such an eye catching bright red. What a beauty!
Our Breeding Philosophy
Wesco Farms has an unconventional breeding philosophy, in that we like a short foaling season (April foals ideally for our climate), and have chosen to NOT breed mares every year.
Our preference, is to put stallions to mares around May 1 and take them out May 31st for those April foals. Our stallions get a brief window - maybe one-two heat cycles depending on the mare. We're fine with a less than ideal cover rate, as we've dealt wit winter, summer and fall foals, April is our sweet spot!. We just don't want people to "assume" mares are at fault for what appears to be a sketchy foaling history as many mares do not get bred for a couple or three years depending on life circumstances; stallions chosen for that year; etc. AND rarely, do we breed a mare back after foaling.
We're including individual mare's breeding history below.
